There are various volunteer opportunities at COM!
Compassion Thrift uses volunteers in various capacities, such as sorting donations, hanging clothes, cleaning, marketing, and helping in the store.
Food Pantry: There are openings available on Tuesday evenings and Thursday and Saturday afternoons to assist in sorting and handing out food/commodities to those in need. Office assistance is needed to ensure the necessary reports are prepared and to help with client intake. The third Tuesday morning of each month brings a need to help unload the delivery from Ozarks Food Harvest.
Bell ringers are needed between Thanksgiving and Christmas at Woods, Walmart, and Walgreens to collect money for the Salvation Army. Signups begin in July!
Recycling: COM processes corrugated cardboard and textile for Polk County. This serves as a source of revenue and also is used as a skills training program. Due to the quantities of cardboard and clothing we get in, we can usually use volunteers to help sort and bale, especially on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
COM always has other needs too that help keep us running. Do you do construction/repairs, gardening, cleaning, graphic design, or some other skill? There's likely some place we can use you.
