Our story begins in 1999, when a group of local pastors formed the Bolivar Area Ministerial Alliance (BAMA) to start a food pantry and meet needs in Polk County. In 2014, we changed our name to Community Outreach Ministries (COM) to better reflect the purpose of our organization. At this time, we also expanded our board to include community members in addition to pastors to create greater stability and capacity to expand our mission. Today, COM operates the food pantry for Polk County, provides case management, & offers life skills education. But that is just the beginning! Our ministries our multifaceted, and we would love to have you join us on our mission of service.
