We’re gathering information to better understand the housing situations of our Polk County neighbors. By completing this quick survey, you’ll help us identify local needs and improve the resources and programs that support safe, stable housing for everyone.
COM’s Housing Program helps our neighbors move toward financial stability by providing safe, affordable housing and supportive case management. We work with our neighbors to set goals, develop life skills, and connect with community resources.
Through this program, participants gain the tools and confidence to maintain long-term stability and independence. We believe that everyone deserves a place to call home, and we are dedicated to advocating for those in need. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors.
A FAMILY REUNITED
FOR OVER 2 YEARS, THIS COUPLE LIVED IN THEIR CAR WHILE THEIR TWO CHILDREN STAYED WITH THEIR GRANDPARENTS. DESPITE WORKING FULL-TIME, SETBACK AFTER SETBACK KEPT HOUSING OUT OF REACH. WE WERE ABLE TO ADVOCATE FOR THIS FAMILY AND PROVIDE HOUSING REFERENCES. TODAY, THAT FAMILY HAS A HOME OF THEIR OWN. THEY ARE REUNITED WITH THEIR CHILDREN, NO LONGER SEPARATED BY CIRCUMSTANCE, BUT BROUGHT BACK TOGETHER UNDER ONE ROOF. THEY SHARED HOW MUCH IT MEANS FOR THEM TO FINALLY HAVE A PLACE WHERE DIGNITY, PEACE, AND HOPE CAN GROW.
A BETTER FUTURE
A young couple fleeing a toxic family situation found themselves stranded in Bolivar after running out of gas. Determined to build a better future, they both quickly found jobs and began rebuilding their lives from the ground up. With steady employment, finding housing became a much easier task. with our team’s support, they were able to secure an apartment of their own. Shortly after moving in, they received the exciting news that they are expecting a little one! Now, this young couple is not only safe and stable but also preparing to welcome their baby into a home filled with hope, love, and new beginnings.

MOVING WITH JOY
For a long time, he struggled to make ends meet as the high cost of rent took up most of his limited budget. With the help of our housing coordinator, Richard received advocacy and a letter of recommendation to the Frisco Highlands Apartments. This opened the door to a new home that is not only more affordable but also a much nicer place to live. Today, Richard is thriving in his new apartment — finally able to enjoy life without the constant stress of high rent. With a little more breathing room in his budget, he’s even able to spoil his beloved cat, a small joy that means so much.
While COM does not provide rent or utility assistance, we do provide guidance, advocacy, and resources to help you navigate the housing process!
