What is
Community Outreach Ministries?
Motivated by the love of Christ and affirming the value of every person, Community Outreach Ministries exists to promote financial stability among our Polk County neighbors through asset-based resources and lasting-relationships in our community.
Our story begins in 1999, when a group of local pastors formed the Bolivar Area Ministerial Alliance (BAMA) to start a food pantry and meet needs in Polk County. In 2007, BAMA formally incorporated as a formal nonprofit. In 2014, we changed our name to Community Outreach Ministries (COM) to better reflect the purpose of our organization as a community effort of all Christians, not just of pastors. Today, COM operates the food pantry for Polk County, provides case management, and seeks to empower those in poverty through life skills classes. But that is just the beginning! Our ministries our multifaceted, and we would love to have you join us on our mission of service.
