BELL RINGING
Community Outreach Ministries is no longer in charge of bellringing for The Salvation Army, but we continue to host the sign-up link for easy access for volunteers interested in ringing the bells. Please direct questions regarding bellringing to our local Service Extension at MID.SE@usc.salvationarmy.org or call 314-646-3077.

SERVICE EXTENSION
One of COM's community partners is The Salvation Army. Volunteers for the Service Extension unit of the Polk County Salvation Army get to use 85% of funds donated locally in Polk County. Money is used to assist local families with rent, utilities, laundry, and transportation and to support fellow nonprofits and first responders with their needs.
The red kettle campaign is the primary source of these funds. Bell ringing begins the day after Thanksgiving and ends December 23rd. Currently, two businesses in Bolivar have kindly allowed Salvation Army to place red kettles at their business entrances. Members from the community can volunteer at Walmart and/or Woods for an opportunity to ring the bell for Polk County. In order for the bell ringing campaign to be successful, The Salvation Army needs YOU to volunteer your time to ring the bell. Watch for signups on this page beginning in the fall.
Bell Ringing Instructions:
-
When you arrive, the kettle should already be outside. If no one if ringing before your shift, go to the customer service desk to pick up the bells and other supplies.
-
When you are finished, pass off the bells to the next ringer. If there is no one after you, return the bell bag to the customer service desk.
-
Always ring with a smile!
